If u were just looking to charge an I pad or power a games unit which one?
Would the 150 watt use much more power converting or is it much the same.

Just use a 12v charging lead, like the ones sold for phones, but with the right plug and voltage at the appliance end. Maplins is a good place to start.

for your intended use both are adequate but rather 'overkill' output wise.

phone charging will probably be 5 or 10 watts and the games unit wont be a lot more.

an inverter will only use as much battery power as it needs to provide power for the appliance plugged in so a 10watt appliance will need around 1amp of battery power....a 1000watt appliance will need around 100amps. (including inverter losses)

I bought 12v cigar plug in type chargers for:
The laptop ( 18v out so a sort of mini inverter ) £9.00
For the iPad £1.19 inc post
    For the Galaxy S £2.30
    For Mo's Logic fone £1.00
For the Kindles .. nothing cos they use the same as the Galaxy

Sorted.. Total cost less than £14.00 and no extra wiring

we use one of these to power and charge our phones and laptops, cant understand why
anybody wants to convert 12v to 240v and then convert it back to between 4.5v to 20v
    using two voltage converters.

the one you have Steve, is 100 to 230v AC.....why not just use the mains power supply supplied with your laptop, phone, gadget ?

at least the one supplied with your gadgets is the correct spec for the job.

Dont know where you got your figures from pappajohn
I think you will find its 11v to 14v dc in and 15 to 24v dc out with a 5v usb out,
in fact the actual one I have which Maplins dont seem to sell now has a even
better range of 11v 14v dc in and 4.5v to 24v dc out with a 5v usb out.
    Hope this answers your question

    regards
