At 1500W and 85% efficiency it will be drawing almost 150 amps. Hope you have plenty of big batteries. :) Of course you probably won't be running it at full power but worth bearing in mind how quickly this thing has the potential to flatten your batteries.

Try telling her that

Ours is wired through a changeover and powers all the sockets and the fridge if we don't switch it over (but not the battery charger) the remote is mounted inside above the door with other controls and the inverter is in the garage close to the batteries, if we didn't have the remote we would have to go out to the garage every time to switch inverter on, wife would jot be happy doing that with wet hair, or even dry hair come to that.

Big cables and big fuse off the batteries.

But usually microwaves and hair dryers only run for a few minutes so a decent solar install will put the power back in an hour or so.

Remote control is very useful if you have to mount the inverter somewhere inaccessible as is often the case as it must be next to the batteries to keep the 12v leads as short as possible.
Mine didn't come with a remote switch but it only takes a few minutes to solder a couple of wires to the switch on the inverter and Bobs your uncle.
