Still a newbie
Hi again.
Can I ask another question please.
I have looked online but the info is complicated and device specific

The van has two leisure batteries with a 2 foot x 1 foot solar panel to help charge them
There is a 1000 watt inverter also.

My question is when I am wild camping.,what 220 volt items could I run?
I know I can't run something over 1000 watts.
I know that I can run a laptop but for how long?

So I suppose I am asking how big is it (inverter )
And what do you run on it.

A bit longwinded I know
Thanks for reading

Your solar panel is very small so you can almost disregard any help it offers. You can run anything off the invertor up to its rated continuous output. The wattage of any appliance you plug in will determine how long you can use it. In the case of your laptop its consumption will be marked on the PSU. Anything you connect will draw W/12 amps from your battery so if your laptop consumes 50W then 50/12 = 4.2A is being taken from the battery. A 100AH battery will in theory last 100/4.2 = 24 hours powering only your laptop. In practice it would last about half this time because it is unwise to discharge the battery by more than 50% of its capacity.

As already pointed out, the panel is just short of useless except for keeping a fully charged battery fully charged.
It sounds like a 50watt panel which, at best, will theoretically produce 4 amps but in reality will be nearer to 3amps.

Your 1000w inverter, used to its full potential, will draw 83 amps per hour from your battery so a 100ah battery will last around 20 to 25 minutes.

Also your 1000w inverter may be 1000w peak, in which case its continuous output may be only half that. Get a couple of 120w solar panels and you could be independent of ehu.
