Good day everyone, we are over from Spain, next week we travel to the Inverness area for a wee while. We will be around Inverness to Elgin area and a couple of days in Glen Affric. I looked at all the posted areas and other web sites but would like to add any further sites that Funsters know of. Cheers.

The site at Portsoy, a little to the east of Elgin is in a nice position. The village has a very good ice cream shop and the walk along the coast to Cullen (of Skunk fame) is excellent, especially the second half which takes to past the pet cemetery. You can then catch a bus back to Portsoy.

Further round the coast you can park on the harbour wall at Port Errol, Cruden Bay for about a fiver a night. Take a fishing rod if you do because you can spin for sea trout there for free.

not long enough
A favourite spot of ours is the Findhorn valley, west of Tomatin, if you want nothing but peace and quiet, views, walks and a chance of Golden Eagles flying by that is, oh and around 500 red deer within 50 metres of MH at night

A few good options to park up by river, mostly right at end though (15 miles)

A long drive down single track road, but with very little traffic, on way back out take the only junction and head north , more good views but not many stopping points, but some forestry car parks once you get back to the B851 near Invarnie

Northwest of Inverness, we like Loch Achanachie, the south side, another single track road, great options for stopping, but again only if don't need company :):)
