Hi and a Happy Easter to all.
I am moving back to the UK later this year and will be looking for a property to purchase. As my wife and I are not sure which area to choose we are considering buying a motorhome for our travels, and then for holidays when we are settled.
Unfortunately we seem to have immediately hit a problem. Insurance companies do not want to take us on as we have lived abroad for 14 years, and especially as we will not straight off have a UK address and post code. Many also have a rule of having lived in the UK for the previous three years. I have had a full and clean driving licence for over 40 years, but our circumstances appear to rule us out as far as insurance underwriters are concerned.
I am sure this situation has occurred with others, and it has already been suggested that I use a relative’s address for insurance and registration. I am wondering though if others have experienced this problem, and overcome it, and whether there are any insurance companies that may be accommodating, especially regarding having not lived in the UK for three years.
