When I bought my MH a year ago I insured with the company the previous owner had been with - Glynwood Insurance Services. I've had no problems this year so no way to judge how good they are, but they don't seem to be a motorhome specialist. Also, I've realised that the quality of service one is likely to receive in the event of a breakdown or other mishap is far more important with a MH then with a "normal" car; so I want to renew with a company I can be sure will give me good cover, with no problems in the event I have to make a claim, or suffer a breakdown.

I'm sure I'll have to pay a little more than with Glynwood - I can accept that. Their quote for renewal (including breakdown recovery) is £311.00.

Can someone recommend a company I can have real confidence in without it costing me an arm and a leg?

All advice and assistance gratefully received, as always,

Mike

I am also looking for MH insurance that will cover the cost of a replacement windscreen without there being a limit in the smallprint (my current insurer limit is £1000, and my windscreen is £1400 + vat to replace! ). On average the quotes I have had are in the region of £515- £620, which is considerably more than my current £370....Mine is not due for renewal until next month, so I will continue the search....

We insured with Saga when we first bought our Autoquest in 2006. Moved to NFU when Saga became expensive in 2010 and then to Frank Pickles a year later when NFU prices went up.

Frank Pickles is a brokerage and insured the van through Highway/LV. The service we received when the Autoquest was Asda'd/neighbour'd was very good so we stayed with Frank Pickles (and Highway/LV) this year.

saga wanted over £600 this year (NOW( so ve been looking around, comfort do not do no claims anymore, nor do you earn it with them, safeguard...well lets say i wasnt impredded with their salesman, and a few others seemed to be extracting the urine without habing any knowledge of what they were insuring.

I gave the C&CC a ring, there quote was cheaper than saga, included breakdown cover, and they knew what they were talking about......got to be worth a punt.

Its an absolute nightmare trying to get a decent quote....A lot of them are not interested in ncd and giving any....My twin sister lives just outside Edinburgh and her premium is just £240 (axa). I phoned the same broker she used and was quoted £615. We both have the same motorhome (hers is 2 years younger than mine) The only difference is that I live in Leeds !!!
