On my iPad the smilies are on the right hand side of the reply box when you post on a thread. Type your post and then tap on a smilie:thumb:

 just clicking on it works on IPhone. You don't see the image on the page while composing bit it is visible to recipients

Possibly something wrong with your settings. Have you got anything switched off?

Just had a look in settings. Is it anything to do with cookies?

I clicked on safari in settings and my cookies are enabled. I think if they are disabled the smilies don't work.:thumb:

 Can do it from drop down menu rather than the panel on right. But I have to copy & paste! Settings seem to be ok. Thanks anyway.

    JavaScript is on!

Thank you so much for all your suggestions.

Looks like I might have to go and see those nice people in the Apple shop!

Sorry, on ipad or iPhone go to settings
    Then press general
Scroll down right hand to keyboard press
Scroll to keyboards press then add keyboard
    Add emoji
Hey presto when typing you have additional keyboard (little globe button at. Bottom left)

You can add any language on ios v 5 on I think

    Small selection for you
