We are new to motorhomes!
hi all,

I have managed to think myself to a standstill! So, this might be a dumb one.
The radio in my Ducato based Burstner is supposed to be powered from the leisure batteries.
When I removed the old radio (certainly not the original) there is a whole mess of wires which have been discarded and a what I take to be a standard DIN plug spliced in.
My question is, without disconnecting the starter or leisure batteries, how can I check which battery is feeding the live in the plug?
Thanks
John

Continuity test from battery +ve to +ve connection on din plug

But I would have thought disconnecting would be quicker and easier

A sensitive volt meter? to check the slightly different voltages from the two batteries.
Increase the voltage difference between the batteries, by connecting a charger to one of them.

Thanks guys. I agree that disconnecting one battery would be best. I will start with a continuity test. The starter battery is under the passenger footwell right below the radio.
Appreciate the help

I think you will find it is fed from the start battery, just fed by a permanent live, not through the ignition switch

Normally I would agree but the Bustner book states several times that in Ducato based MH's the radio is fed from the Leisure batteries

Pop the hazard lights on. One voltage will be stable one voltage will fluctuate

Simples!

Now THAT is genius, thank you!
In reality it doesnt really matter because when its off its OFF not on standby.

That means you'll loose all of you "saved" settings and radio favourites.

The"standby" which is normally ignition controlled is best disconnected and a constant 12 volt supply connected to the standby with a small switch in series
