It is all your fault...

I got up quite early for me (10am), made a coffee and reckoned I should make up my mind what to do today...

I am in Portugal sitting in my (old) Hymer, parked in the Studio compound where I sometimes work and, having put in some hard hours over the last few days working with the people attending a conference, I now have the option of...

1) Spending some gentle and pleasant hours working in the Studio library (for which I get paid.)

2) Make the short trip (17kms) to my land and firing up the strimmer to tidy things up a bit (for which I don't get paid but which I love doing...)

3) Heading for the coast for a few days on a mini-adventure (Perniche has been recommended.)

... while sipping the coffee I log onto Fun and I am still here at half past twelve having not started any of the above...

Bloody MotorHome Fun is ruining my life...

Breaking NEWS - The Advertising Standards Agency has just issued a direction to motorhome fun. - the home page must include a banner no smaller that ariel 2 advising that Motorhome Fun can be both enjoyable and addictive.

The Health Minister has his top team working on smilie patches to help with motorhomefun withdrawal symptoms.

A further press release will be issued in due course

I did it!

Left to fuel up at 1.00pm (1.08 euros per litre, normally around 1.17) (Intermarche at Ansiao)

Bought supplies...

Headed west at 1.40pm.

Pulled up here after checking out Peniche beaches (a bit windy) just outside the town. Don't think I will stay here tonight on the grounds that it looks like a good "party" spot for youth.

Fridge fired up on gas straight away (after months of idleness.)

Back down the road there was a free beach car park with some motorhomes on it and free wi-fi proudly supplied by the Peniche Council. No spaces half and hour ago but maybe there will be when the sun goes down...

Must be settled in time for the quiz...

I went back to the beach car park for the Quiz...

Here is a question that was not asked by Peter last night.

What do surfers do when the sun goes down?

Answer. They get out their wiggly skate-board thingies and race up and down car-parks seeing how close they can get to a classic Hymer worrying the old bloke inside.

Decided to move off that place and headed towards the barragem at Pego Do Altar near Alcacer do Sal. Spent the night at the service station just south of the Vasco da Gama bridge. (How long is it?.)

(Why do I feel more secure parked with truckers than I do with surfers/skate-boarders beach people?)

Made my way here this morning (had to overtake two lots of our mobile living cousins) and boy, was it worth it.

In winter this wild-camping spot is packed with motorhomers but today it is practically empty...

Just got back from swim in the lake... well more of a "flop about" than a swim but the water was lovely...

So when you went in for a swim were you using one of those swimsuits that have the sleeves and trousers built in? You know, the type that have buttons up the front.
