Mine were starting to rust and paint was flaking off..

rub down with emery cloth to remove old paint and rust, then a coat of Hammerite Smooth Satin Black...

I used brush rather than spray ..

    job done..

thanks.. no not heated.. .. electric adjustment which is really handy on the passenger mirror..

it's the small jobs like this that make all the difference.. no special skill and cheap to do ..

Thinking of doing mine soon. The mounting blocks are flaking too but I think they are aluminium so will need to be removed, cleaned, then treated with etching primer before painting.

    that was the problem Chris..

I believe Hymer sourced both the plywood deck and the mirror arms in the UK..

.. but on the bright side I haven't found a built in waterfall.. yet

so no need to Bailey out

Mine are a slightly different model mirror to yours Jim (picture taken a few years ago before the flaking started). The cable linking the mirror to the mounting block carries current for movement and heating.

Well mine definately need doing and are on the list. Also after moving her yesterday and finding someone had bashed into my nearside mirror (lhd) and grief I had setting it back up (and still not happy with it), I think an after market non OEM remote moveable is on the shopping list. I would like the dual split as well.

Think I will go for a fetching Hammerite silver instead of the existing black - thanks for a good post.
