I'm having to replace my gas struts on my drop down bed due to one failing. Following previous good advice the removal was fairly easy. More of a concern was the wear that had taken place on the front end lugs. Now I know what the dusty deposits are that I occasionally get along the window sill on both sides. No sign of any lubricant that would almost certainly reduce the wear.

I think I've still got enough of the lug left to not worry too much; my replacement strut will most certainly be going back with a good smear of Vaseline.

That amount of wear is unlikely to be due to the bed being pulled down at night then pushed back in the morning. It may be up/down movement whilst travelling?

Me too!
Perhaps you were unwise to show this example of bedrooms wear and tear on a Sunday.
Vaseline???
Perhaps I too should seek Hymer Club 'advice' nudge, nudge.
