many many years! since I was a kid
remember some more specific vans like A class are built only to order, and most manufacturers will make only a few non ordered vans. when you go to buy a new van the salesman will have access to a list of available build dates

6500 is a pretty optimistic number and will no doubt include imports. speak to many dealers and they reckon on average just a few new vans sold per week. multiply that by the number of dealers. thats one reason many dealers have more than one brand franchise. bigger dealerships will sell more, but theres only a handful of them

So only a small market in the uk.
Only reason asking my cousin was after a similar van to mine and has struggled to find one.
He now has a short list to look at but they are different layouts.
thanks

I would hazard a guess that I have the only 1978 Winnebago Itasca C25RB in the UK. I could well be wrong, though...

I do not have to hazard a guess as to how many of our vans were made.

ONE !!!

Yup, one for the UK market, two others for other parts of the world but only one still registered as being on the road according to SEA Italy

In terms of our van (Burstner Delfin) I'm sad enough to know that 330 RHD versions were sold in the UK made up of 157 Delfin and 173 Delfin Performance.

Mine was made for 3 years and I think there are quite a few around, although I have only ever seen one more (in France).
A brilliant layout, from our point of view ideal, however as standard it comes rated at 3500kg giving a tiny payload, which would be exceeded by the 4 adults it's supposed to take never mind their stuff.
Ours is uprated to 4000kg, and there are only two of us + dog, even so with the large amount of storage space, it is not difficult to reach the maximum.

I've never seen another Sovereign in the wild, although maacracing on here has one (still?).

I would be so excited to see another. I was excited last year to see another Machzone (Silver florin or something) pull into Slapton sands, unfortunately its members-only and they weren't so were sent away but we waved and pointed.

We pulled onto Calais Aire last September to find an identical MH to ours parked opposite, then another one pulled in and parked beside us, then a fourth Tribute pulled in but was a different layout - it looked like an owners club meet!

Greetings,

I've seen quite a few TAG axle Hobby's but not many 600 series.

I do know that ours went online for sale on the Saturday and the dealer had to put his phone in a bucket of water with people ringing up about it.
Luckily we were first to walk through the door on Monday morning.
A true case of "First to see will buy"!!!

One year. A whole one!
RMB's are rare little beasts at the best of times.

As far as I know, there's only Dave's and mine as RMB 670 models in the UK. There's a few more 670's for sale in Germany. I don't know how many were built.

However, as ALL RMB's were individually tailored by their first purchaser, no two are ever the same.

So, I believe, my RMB is the only 5 berth 670 in existence.

Ours is number 3 of only 7 ever built at 23ft. Like the RMB's everyone was tailor made for the buyer so no two alike. Of those 7 I know one was written off in a fire so that leaves 5 others someplace, never came across one. There were two built that were longer and thats it a very rare marque with a one piece fibreglass foam sandwich body (including the floor). Built by a boat builder in somerset on a merc sprinter chassis. And supposed to be the first motorhome (not caravan) in the UK to sport a Heiki rooflight. A trend many have since followed. built with an underslung gas tank and solar from new it also boasts a ski locker and underfloor exterior belly boxes like an American RV. It was built with 1.25 ton payload. not bad for a 23ft van. Oh yes and it also has a Full size cooker with full oven grill and 4 rings. Very unusual.:thumb:

For some strange reason I have always been attracted to rare motorhomes. I now own an RMB 670 Silver Star, but have owned some real scarce stuff over the years. Some of them are here.

I forgot to put in what they are, so for those that are interested.
1) Elddis Autoking 1989 on a Fiat 2.5 turbo diesel. Bought in Spain and renovated over the winter there.
2) Tiffin Alegro 1989 built on an Oshcosh chassis with Cummins 5.9 turbo diesel. Rare basement model, with raised roof. I toured all over Europe with that and it was a sad day when I finally sold it.
3) VW LT28 1990. 6 cylinder none turbo diesel, built by a Dutch boat builder for him and his wife. I bought it in Holland and toured extensively throughout Europe with it.
4) VW T4, Bought off a Frenchman in Spain who owned it from new. 1.9 none turbo diesel. I built the trailer from an old Honda van and toured Scandinavia fishing with it.
5) The RMB towing a Dehler Profi back from Germany, a very rare find, they were twice the price of any other T4 converter when new. Built by Dehler boat builders in conglomeration with VW. Dehler still build quality boats to this day.

Very few will be identical as we all seem to customise them in some way.

I thought ours was pretty rare, we looked at one in Portsmouth and eventually bought one from Edinburgh, first site we pulled into after picking it up and what do you know but the one from Portsmouth was in the site as well and there were only about 6 vans total.

How about this one for a bit of a rarity Hymer with Opel power (parked up in Spain)

photo won't upload so you will have to use your imagination.
