Having previously been firmly in the blue toilet chemical mob, I've been seduced by the 'bio lobby' on here and have bought some cheapo bio liquid for the cassette. Question is, how much does one put into the cassette; a cap full? A quick 'that will do' slop of the stuff? What?

Don't tell me that it's the same amount as goes into a washing machine, because I'm not fully trained-up on washing machines! ::bigsmile:

I normally use a couple of capfuls but don't bother measuring exactly so, often enough, the cap isn't quite full. I suppose it's slightly more accurate than "A quick 'that will do' slop" but not much :D

Never leave a campsite with your clothes line tied to a lamp post.
If you don't put enough in nature will find a way of letting you know..............I'd give that 5 minutes if I were you........................

I put less than a capful in and just top up if required. We very rarely have smells and I'd rather not put more in than is required. If I'm feeling reckless, I'll put some in the cistern to help stop the black algae building up and it tops up the waste tank with bio liquid as it flushes.

slap a bit in is what we do, not a capful that is just extravagant . Enough to work and no smells come out either, the solids are no more and it is easy to flush away when emptying the cassette. SOMETIME we cannot empty at an easy to get place, so we change cassettes for the spare and still no smell.

We use Tesco Biological Liquid and use one capful when recharging. We've found more than that sometimes introduces a chemical smell and generally it's not needed. We also try to empty the cassette daily as it doesn't seem to last as long as the proprietary toilet chemicals, especially in warm weather.

The answer is to empty regularly, no more than two days or when it begins to whiff!

Are they bio tablets? Try bio liquid next but in places like Spain they don't say anything on the packet as to whether it is bio or not. I understand this is because it almost all is, only we sensitive Brits are offered a choice. :)

And as for the rest of you, are you all constipated? :D

Strangely, we have discovered, originally through necessity that using for no 2s and not rinsing when emptying, reduces the smell and breaks things down better. I assume it must set up a sort of septic tank effect.

Don't you love a good toilet thread.

Same here...we stick with the proper stuff and empty frequently, not had any problems since. It doesn't cost that much

11yrs, but many years a tugger.
If I use it, I put in the whole one litre bottle, but then the black tank is 35gal and it is recommended to be at least 2/3 full before emptying, because then you have a good wooooooosh to get the stuff going down the 3" pipe. :)

My Euro Flair has a 160 litre black tank (about 40 US), I used the geo method on my RV and do the same on the Flair. But I modified it to use Bio fluid and Calgon fluid. In my tank I put 2 caps of Bio and 1 cap of Calgon. Occasionally when I know the grey will be going a while I do the same in it. The smell reduction is significant, but the advantage of a tank over cassette on this issue is time to work. Cassette content turnover is usually short. Also with a macerating toilet the contents are already physically broken down so the tank empties easily and cleanly through the 40mm tube. A great advantage over the RV.

I use the bio tablets because they are easier to carry and just drop 2 into the cassette. Never had a problem with smell, being on my own can be 4 days between emptying. The only issue I get is trying to pee at 30c :(
