How many motorhomes have you owned?

Just reading Haganaps thread about his new van and I think he said it is his 4th van in 10 years.

We are on our second van since 2008.

So who has owned the most, and what were the motivating factors for change?

Watcher buddy, it's only you, Anne and the passport Office that know Jackie's real age and the Fact that I'm into the older woman......

.....lets go off at a tangent shall we, @Chris won't mind
Can I start the tangent thread - whose owned the least......

1 - Hymer B564 - sheer luck - got everything we thought we wanted and a few things we didn't even know we wanted first time! Now where's the 'smug grin' emoticon.........;)(y)

I'm a newbie
I don't think we will have created any records, but we had 2 new vans in the space of 9 weeks this year, first one good but not what we wanted in reality, this one we really like so I hope that in 2025 when this question comes up again, I can say only 2 vans in 10 years, now that would be good

We've had two vans over 9 years and just ordered our new one.

First van was a year old Elddis 130 bought it with only 900 miles on it, great little van and served us really well with no major issues.

Second van Adria Matrix 680SP which we have just sold was meant to be a van for the next 10years, 2 1/2 years later we have sold it as Sophie doesn't come away as much for weekends and our requirements have changed as we tend to do more one and two nights away so smaller PVC van should be more convienant.

Been van less for a few weeks now and missing it .

18 years s Motorhome (33years caravans)
We have had various caravans over the years Sprite/Astral/Embassy. 1970/82

Campers we have had 3

1982 Had a Bedford CF which we had converted by Manchester Motor Caravans complete with windows and high top for the princely sum of £1,000. Had a wonderful summer touring France with it with the sliding door open for ventilation (don't know what happened to health and safety )

Then had a gap for a few years .

2002 we bought an Eriba Car, loved it, but space was a bit tight.

2005 Bought the Hymer 584 still got it love it won't be swapping it.

Hope this helps Chris  :D

Hymer
Had 5 vans since 1987, started with a Holdsworth Fanfare, air spoiler on the roof. One bank holiday in 1991 at Spalding, we got so cold and wet, it had to go. Driving home, Brownhills had just opened their cafe, so in we went and came out with a new Kon Tiki 600/5. Two Autosleepers followed.
Had the current Hymer 504 for 6 years and more than happy, no reason to change. At Silverstone 2 weeks ago, we were parked opposite an identical van, only 2 serial numbers apart. We both had experienced identical issues but neither of us would change!

On and off for many years.
Will probably change next year or the year after if we see something we like better than this one. I'd like more lounge space. Love the fixed transverse bed over the wonderful garage but would like more of a relaxing area and will need to go up in length a little. If next door move we will take out the gate post on the drive which will give more options as to length of van - this one is just under 6m and 6.5m is probably the longest we would be able to get in with the gate post where it is :)

This is the third van in 20 years btw
1st Toyota HiAce self converted and the conversion lifted in and out to turn it back to a minibus as needed
2nd Hymer - a huge beast, not sure of the model number but it was of the 1980s vintage and is still around
3rd Chausson WS bought last May.

Each was what we wanted at the time but circumstances change. If I could afford it I would have a van converted for us.

We have even spoken about selling this one next spring (maybe after Harrogate) and waiting until September / October to buy the next as we don't intend to use over the school holidays / busy times.

The Chausson 610 looks good except for the sleeping arrangements when we have the Grandson. Two double bunks are not ideal when you have a pre-school child with you.

OK

Three caravans, used Swift Corniche just to try out, liked the life so bought new Vanroyce and had a series of issues so after year did a deal to get it replaced with another new Vanroyce (made by Autotrail).

2012 decided to try motorhoming for a change so bought a used N+B Flair 8000, nearly 4 years on still got it and don't know what could fill its boots.
