Hi all

After a few discussions on the Solo Traveller thread I thought I'd start a seperate thread to see if there are any other single parents using this site that travel as the only adult in their van and with their kids?

It is very nice when you turn up at a site/rally to know that there are other people to socialise with that do not have a partner travelling with them (not necessarily single parents could be a solo traveller). I usually always find somebody to talk to on trips away, but a few friendly chats at the fresh water tap is not the same as sitting down and having a proper chat over a cuppa, glass of wine or game of boules.

It's also nice for the kids to turn up and have other children to play with.

I'm a female single parent of two boys aged 11 and 12 from Sussex.

Hi Julie, please get yourself on a Fun meet or two, more often than not your kids will have other kids to play with and plenty of funsters will share your bottle of wine::bigsmile:

Hi Julie,i know of a few single parent tenter's but not M/Homer's,it may be the cost of owning a motorhome and running it that put's them of,as Jim say's just turn up at a weekend gathering bound to be other kid's for your 2 to play with,i have never been to any meet's as i to travel solo, and as you say its not the same is it,but i may go to the Steam Rally Meeting and join the fun.

Am nearing the end of my single parenting days, daughter 19 doesn't come away with me very often now and son nearly 16 has missed a couple of weekends in the last 6 months, so it won't be long before I'm a lone traveller.

I've never been on a Funsters meet yet, but since becoming a widow over 7 years ago I have made many camping friends by going on meets and rallies organised through forums such as this and by being a member of the C & C C.

Very often it is easier to make friends with couples than it is with other solo campers, as they can sometimes be a bit shy. Having the children with you helps you get to know your neighbours on site as they socialise with other youngsters.
