Just wondering how little it would cost to buy a reliable euro van with either U shaped rear seating or twin adjacent sofa.

Something that was tidy and had a few year left in it?

Hi roadrunner

It really is, how long is a piece of string situation ?

I would suggest, do the sums, see what you can afford, always ensuring that you cover all running costs etc., then search out a model that suits you.

Can't be more helpful than that I'm afraid.

Any other info or suggestions could lead you all over the place.

best regards

it even has a free ,red, oily rag for the engine. strategicly placed for easy access on the radiator. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Indeed,

Before taking the pic I asked permission, they were very friendly ..if a little intimidating .. you know the look, scruffy, long hair, un washed, ... just like us fulltimers.. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

I checked the reg at the DVLA site, can't recall exacly but it was legitimately registered and taxed, ex WW2 ..
Two owners.. MOD and the Third Reich .. :roflmto::roflmto:

Depends entirely on your budget.

Auto-sleepers do a conversion called Legend based on the Ford Transit chassis.

This one is a 1996 2.5 turbo diesel with just 37k on the clock (hardly run in!). Its on Auto Trader website being sold through a dealer at £17k. May seem a bit expensive but you have to consider the extremely low mileage. You could possibly buy one for less privately though you would really have to drop lucky.

of trading in his lovely sleigh,

santa said hes after a camper,
its gotta be the only way'
now rudolf is really pi**ed off,
cos he really loves that sleigh.

rudolf has just told santa,

i'll burn down your bloody grotto ,
then i'll bu**er off with your sleigh.

With £1 now being worth less than 1.2 euro, you have left it a bit late I fear!

U shaped rear lounge? - That's very old fashioned British van style, not eurovan terrritory at all...

Here Here, I have one exactly the same as pappajohn. I also love the U shaped lounge, makes a massive bed, and you can leave the bed set up if you want to, because you have the dining area, and when it is hot outside, you basically live outside. I leave the bed made up, have telly close by, watch tv, till I drop off. Great layout. Swift Kontiki L, just the right size.

We bought our 1992 Euramobil motorhome, here in Spain, privately, almost a year ago, for the princely sum of 6,000 euros.

80,000 miles, 2.5 litre non-turbo diesel on the Peugeot J5 (same as Talbot Express but with column gear change) van base, power steering, 4 berth, U shaped lounge, in excellent order throughout, on UK plates but originally from germany, no rust...literally no rust at all, as had spent most of it's life in germany (no road salting).
With awning, double pushbike rack, rear ladder, roof bars, and absolutely all the bits and bobs of kit that you need to go motorhoming (hookup cables, etc etc etc).

Apart from changing engine oil, air filter, gearbox oil and other service items; the only thing I've done is put 4 new tyres on it, a new exhaust back box, and fitted Grayston leaf spring assisters (brilliant if you've got "soggy bottom" tired leafsprings)....total cost maybe 500 euros.

Although it's notionally a 4 berth, we only use the luton over-cab for storage, it takes about 3 or 4 mins to make up the enormous double bed by dropping the table height in the "U" lounge.

We've done 15,000 miles in it so far, on trips all over Spain.
Average mpg over all that distance, inclding plenty of hills and wggly roads, is 29.4 mpg.
Fantastic value; and plenty of years left in the old dog.

Tha's what I call a good value eurovan
