We are 6 miles from home
Don't know this end of the city but it feels like we're hundreds of miles away

It just goes to show that the uk is too big to see it all. Yes foreign climes may have better weather but there are always nice views on your doorstep

Go on, tell us where you are then ?
We had a run out last weekend to Ellesmere in Shropshire, only 45 minutes from home but could have been anywhere you`d happy to drive for hours to get to.
Lovely little CS (CCC) by Colemere with nice walks around the mere and Llangollen canal.
Just goes to show you don`t need to go far from home :)

I don't think miles matter. We often take the motorhome to Southport, which is 8 miles from home.

We spent 3 nights on the promenade parking at exmouth last month. The weather was fantastic we sat on the sea wall late at night having a nightcap and watching the world go by.

We only live 4 miles away but we felt like we had a wonderful holiday, and it only took 10 mins to get home

When we first got our van we used to travel hundreds of miles for a few nights away. These days we keep it pretty local and have a much more relaxed time and save £'s on fuel (y)

We nearly always stay in Llangollen for our first try out of the year. But this year went a bit mad and used a pub near Ruthin (y):)

Been parked on Sunnybrook farm CS all week getting some upgrades done ready for our 3 month trip in September, just under 3 miles from where she is normally parked.

As said above, distance doesn't matter, and I haven't stopped grinning all week.

Well we left home on the 13th June and we've covered almost 2000 miles including Stratford, Misterton, Falkirk Wheel and the "North Coast 500" and this morning awoke to this....sorry.... and we still have the rest of Dumfries & Galloway followed by the Lakes and York before heading home for a while, and thus far it has been Bleddy Marvelous.

I wake up most mornings to the new Forest views and sounds so I'm aware that all those miles aren't necessary but I've enjoyed it just the same.

There were some nice views in S Devon when we were down there this spring, plus a quiet little CL that we stopped on.

Trouble was the wind was effing freezing and it piddled down with rain when we didn't need it so it never warmed up enough to enjoy it properly. It only helped to confirm why our big trips will always involve crossing the Channel.

UK for weekend jaunts when the forecast's good? Fine, no bother. Loads of nice places to go in our area. As for two weeks, three weeks or more, no chance, not for us. We've covered a lot of the UK already anyway and want to go further afield while we still can. One day we may be less mobile so we won't have much choice about our destinations - we need to save some bits of Britain to discover until then.

We're about a mile and a half from home this weekend in the MH in a farmers field.

Nowhere is too close if it's where you want to be.

As soon as you get into the motorhome you are on holiday. I even sit in ours and read when it's on the drive!

We have often only gone 10 miles away for a break - its surprising how little you know about local towns and attractions
