Just wondering re questions we have been asked when booking into a site, how big is your motorhome, well our answer is 24` oh right that big we`ll have to put you on pitch whatever.

Now we have been thinking we might change our motorhome for an autotrail Arapaho which is 28`is this going to limit where we can go?

Sounds silly we know as there are lots of 28 footers and longer out there but has anyone else found this when booking a site?

We had a 28 foot motorhome (an Arapaho) for a couple of years, of course you will have the odd moment when you wish it was a tad smaller, but we toured extensively in ours. Remember the overhang and you will be fine wherever you wish to go.:thumb:

Our motorhome is a bit shorter than the caravan we used to have. (If you include the hook up triangle bit they have at the front.)
Sites have often said oooooh we will have to put you on .... to us too.
Yet we would just turn up with the caravan and go where ever. I wonder why it is. Could it be more about the weight than the length , i wonder?

We are 28ft and yes weight limits us on some sites as to usually pitch type (hardstanding) but only once had the size issue and it was simply because it was the last pitch left and it genuinly was too small for us, well we could have parked into the road but I understood the sites reservations

One thing also to think about with large overhang vehicles is where you are going as regards to recovery, should the worst happen.

You may be looking at HGV recovery, and loading can be quite a pain! If you are having to actually pay for it, then you will be billed for extra people etc. When the overhang is large, you will need to insist on watching them load like a hawk - have seen many people rip off rear elevations by not having enough sleepers to hand.

But on the good side - you get to stretch out!!
