WD40 ?
The killer of all things electronic ?
It is good if you can clean off residue and renew it regularly ( about every three weeks or so ).. But general use ?
You do know that the bloody stuff becomes hygroscopic after a while and far from repelling moisture actually absorbs it !

Didn't know that?

In the good old bad old days I loved the stuff ! Earned me an absolute fortune ! Folk would spray it on distributor caps in cold damp weather to help with starting.
Worked well for a while then as time went by .. no more spark ( wellllll, actually LOTS of sparks just none where they were needed !! )
I would get the call out and of course replace all the HT leads and the cap at an exorbitant charge :xsurprised::xwink:

In more recent years I have spent hours cleaning the poxy stuff off of ECU's on bikes..

If you want something that does what folk THINK wd does, look up ACF50
It is made by Lear of Lear jet fame and really does stop corrosion and keeps water out

WD claim to do almost everything but it doesn't have the lovely smell it used to have in the 70's 80's

I'll not worry about that.
EDIT
according to the CC club information publication ORANGE is "recommended" only

Why, what happens if something goes wrong when the cost of H07/5 is about the same
Remember the regs can used against you in a court of law when there looking for someone to blame

Jaws, you beat me to it, mentioning ACF50.

Good stuff, used it on all my bikes, left out in all weather conditions.

I was the FIRST motorcycle place to sell it specifically for use on bikes way back around 2001..
I only got in to it because a guy who worked on planes recommended it..
Not gonna go into the diatribe of all the tests I did but will say that 6 months after I first got the info I became the biggest seller of the stuff in the UK to bikers.

Of course as time went by the bigger players sussed it out and instead of buying it by the pallet as I was were buying it in 40 ft containers !

I have both the heavy duty orange and the blue cables. If there is any risk of the cable being run over I will always use the orange. It is much tougher and more resilient than the Arctic.

PS: I meant to mention not all blue cable is called Arctic and not all cable labled Arctic is actually suitable for outdoor use below 5C.

I just did a search for the article I read a while ago on this subject as it can be confusing.

So when buying Arctic blue cable, please ensure that it is both suitable for outdoor use and can withstand low temperatures.

Find this stuff excellent in all electrics.
Really protects connections/circuits from corrosion.
We use it all the time in the workshop.

I've used 'FOSPRO' for years. First experience was during my time in the Navy, (FAA) to get rid o f condensation on electronic equipment in aircraft, particularly Buccaneers where the radio bay was in the fuselage and unpressurised. After flight, the condensation on the gear was incredible inside the covers. Due to extreme changes in altitude an thus temperatures I would think.

I didn't & haven't observed it happening although I hate the stuff sprayed all over ignition systems - it attracts dirt. Then it really is hygroscopic :D
