I bought this and swapped the socket with the socket on my hook up cable. I now have a hook up with a 2 pin and a 2 pin adapter with a 16 amp socket

No it is effectively a three pin socket as it has the earthing "pins" down the side.

It may only have two round pins but it has a third earthing "pin" at the side do it is effectively three pin.
