Ok, but it's not rude or anything. Years ago, in the 90s, I was a legal secretary involved in conveyancing and we had a client, John Morgan, who went through all the process of buying a newbuild house on an estate at Upholland, which I believe is in Lancashire. All communication with him was done on the telephone and he came into the office for meetings and mail and so on. Anyway, he exchanged contracts and paid an £18,000 deposit with completion on 10 working days notice from the developer. The address we had for him was Bryn Mawr. Anyway, we tried to contact him, telephone, writing even contacting the local post office to see if they new him. Whatever we did, he just didn't turn up, he was in breach of contract and the developer got to keep the £18,000 and John Morgan was never heard of again.

How strange. Could he have just died? If he did, did nobody sort out his affairs and find out about the house he was buying? Who could just let £18,000 go like that?

That's the end of the story.
