I was sorting through some of my old slides at the weekend and I was pleased to find this shot of Brighton's West Pier, soon after this was taken an arson attack burned it to a shell making national news as we lost a grade one listed building. Now all that is left of the pier is the metal structure but instead of rebuilding it they are building a huge viewing tower, no idea why as there will be nothing to see 
The picture brings back memories of when I went on the pier as a boy, there was not much on it but it was so different from the Palace pier, I remember the fishermen casting off the end, if I remember correctly the building in the picture was a theatre.
