My husband and I bought our first Motorhome last Autumn. It's a 51 plate Bessacar 765 on a Fiat Ducato chassis and had only done 10k (with all paperwork to prove mileage). The previous owner had, had it from new using it mainly for short trips to the coast as she was disabled. We did hire a Motorhome for a week before looking to make a purchase to make sure it was for us.

We have now been on around 10 trips and deciding whether to get an awning and air con. It is winterised and we were at my son's in Yorkshire at Christmas in heavy frost and were not cold at all so perhaps someone could advise if we will be hot in the summer and will need to get air con.

Thanks ☺️

Getting better
Hi and welcome from a fellow Essex Boy.

After a career in air conditioning I would not advise fitting one to a MH, unless you have massive available payload, (they are heavy) and plan to spend your time on camp sites with mains electric at 10 amp or more. Park carefully and keep the van in the shade and sleep with the vents open would be my advice.

WELCOME TO THE FORUM!!! :welc:

Another Motorhomer from ESSEX - The Sunshine County!

Looks like you've done it right; hiring first, then buying.

Wishing you many happy miles,

James & Sue

Not long enough!
Hello Funster :)
Wouldn't bother with air con. You'll only use in on electric, and how often does it get hot enough?
If you leave windows open on warm days and roof vents so the heat doesn't build up you should be fine.
You can also buy an external solar screen, silverscreens make them.
You can look out, but folk can't look in, and they also reduce the sun on the windscreen, so it doesn't get so hot in the van.

Hi and Welcome from Shropshire.
I guess it depends where you are planning on going but we've never had it too hot that we thought it would be good to get an aircon. Opening the windows and staying in the shade seems to be enough for us but then we've not been to the south of Spain in the middle of summer either.
