Set off tomorrow for our very first trip abroad. Via the Chunnel to France, Belgium, Germany and ultimately Poland to visit with family and meet our youngest Granddaughter for the first time ever. Bashed was born January this year. Time to forget politics and enjoy some family love. Feeling excited but fairly apprehensive too. And breathe.....:wasntme::wub:

Quick update.....Chunnel was great. Made it tomArras with our first Aire at Lens. Onward to Düren when the alternator died. Traffic cones, hiviz jackets and the 45 minute wait for the breakdown truck. Waved at sympathetically by all and sundry...even the politzei! Jump started and made it to the forecourt of the local garage, where we spent the next two days. We were given free electricity, coffee and water, plus the German word for bucket ( needed to empty the sewage) it's 'heimer' in case you need to know! On Saturday pm we set off on our travels again, stopping at Stukenbucke behind the Froli, factory. Nice quiet site at the weekend, with an honesty box to pay by. Full of birdsong and only one other van. We pushed on the next day to Angermunde, just under the old wall. Beautiful little town which we hope to have the time to explore on our way back. Then on to Kluczewo in Poland and the farm owned by the parents of our daughter in law. Lovely village in the heart of the Polish Lake District. We spent the last 10 days there, getting to know little Hannah and enjoying time with our son and his in laws. Good fun. Lots of drinking and a bit of a safari in the UAZ. We are now at camping Marina in Szczecin. Poland doesn't do wild camping and we haven't seen any Aires either. This site has disabled facilities though, so Steve is a clean boy now! Szczecin is the town our son lives and works in so a few days exploring and our granddaughters 7 th birthday on Sunday, then heading back towards the Chunnel. Another niggle with the alternator and brake lights coming on. Hopefully, sons FIL will be able to help. Loads of LPG stations in Poland.
