I dont seem to have much luck with my current motorhome! Can anyone help with a diagram of what it should look like under the dashboard of my Hymer Classic B584, registered 2003. I have what I believe is too much movement at the front of the cab and feel that it is not right.

not long enough
Do you mean the whole of the front dash seems loose? good chance at that age that it has been off for something

I have seen a few A class MH's with random screws presumably pinning down the dashes o_O

probably best to compare with the same model at a meet, there are a few meets going on in Scotland during June

My wife and I prefer such movements towards the rear of the 'van. It is far more conducive to pleasure, whatever that is.

Is it a fiat ?
I have a 2003 fiat ducato and frankly it's hard to see much under dash.
What is it that's loose ?

Hi Folks, Rosalan have fun. Yes it is a Fiat. I can only describe it as the bottom of the windscreen area of the cab does not seem to move in unison with the board that runs from the dashboard to the windscreen.

Eddie has just been out to examine our 584 (2000). He says check your screws holding the large dashboard to the vented front part, that seems to be the only thing that can move.

The connection between the firewall and screen is plywood with metal supports underneath. There should be NO movement of the plywood infill relative to the windscreen. You need to know whether the windscreen & surround is moving or the plywood. Ask someone to try to push the A post towards the centre of the van whilst you watch from inside. Movement = the front of the coachwork isn't supported (loose brackets / fasteners). No movement = plywood infill loose.

I have a B584 that is fine but a previous A class (Tabbert FFB) exhibited the same symptoms as your B544. The cause was loose body fasteners everywhere under the bonnet. It was easily cured & the van was a lot quieter afterwards.

Thanks Allan and Tony. The movement is the windscreen and approximately half inch but difficult to say. The metal supports have now been tightened making a considerable difference but will go on to check the body fasteners etc. Thanks for all your help, looking good so far, will keep you updated.:)
