Help please
Just picked up new van and can't set up tv.
It looks like vision of plus digital TVs amplifier and radio vp5 not even connecting to electric,??
Also it has a SNIPE2 box fitted in cupboard which is powered up.
Connected our digital TV but no signal showing
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks in advance

No, there's no supply to it, so we think they have disconnected it to set up the snipe box!!!
How do we get it back on supply ?? Or how to get this snipe to work ?? Which is easiest ?
And yes they did do handover but it's 2 yr old van and they said previous owner had snipe box put in so they didn't go into it.
We automatically thought we could just set up our TV and not bother with this snipe??

Does the power for the aerial come from the tv? I had the same problem when I collected our new van (different aerial though) until someone told me to look at the menu on the tv and ensure that the power to the aerial box was ticked. Bingo! 5v power down the aerial lead.

At the moment in time, forget digital TV from the Vision Plus box..There is no power to it and no aerial lead from it. Is there a coax lead from the snipe to the TV? if there is, is the snipe up and locked on and TV set to Satellite input?

Is there a sat dish on the roof ?
Snipe box is useless without it and the previous owner may have removed it.
You cannot recieve a sat signal from the snipe box via the normal coax cable, it must be either a scart lead or an HDMI cable and the tv needs setting to scart or HDMI (depending which cable used) in the menu.

Failing that, the terrestrial aerial booster needs a 12v feed from somewhere convenient and a coax to your tv then the tv needs setting to digital (DTV) signal if it isnt already
Then point the aerial DIRECTLY towards the nearest transmitter mast then turn to either horizontal or vertical polarity depending on the transmitters polarity (the winder on the bottom) and retune the tv.
You will of course have to do this EVERY time you move to a new location.

The type of aerial you have needs to be raised and pointed at the correct TV transmitter. Also it needs to be polarised correctly for the transmitter. Most are horizontal which is the position the aerial is in when stowed like now. The little handle on the bottom is used to tilt it over to vertical. The box the aerial is connected to is an amplifier and needs a 12 volt supply to work. also you need a lead from one of the outputs to your TV set or the signal will not get there

Thanks
Yes we are using snipe2 not the van aerial.
Our tv remote only seems to want to turn it on and do nothing else!!
So then we use the snipe handset
We have set it to hdmi 1 as that's what the scary is plugged into at back of tv?
But the snipe2 had selected Astra 1

Astra 1 is the problem.
You need Astra 2.
No idea how to reset the snipe, sorry.

By scart I assume you mean lead.
Scart is a 21pin rectangular plug
HDMI is an overgrown USB.

Not knowing your tele. But somehow you need to go into its menu and change it to Astra 28 or Astra 2 however it is listed.

Not sure I am following correctly, but here goes. When you change satellite the snipe dish will have to train and move to find the new sat. Astra 2. Then your tv. should tune to the new sat found. Via scart if that is the lead from snipe box to the TV connection. So hdmi would say no sig. snipe on Astra 2 and tv input to scart.

Where is the lead that comes from the snipe controller connected to the tv?

If not built in freesat have you got a seperate sky or freesat box

On your side on picture of the tv, is that a "magic eye" on the side? This is typically used for the remote control to drive a tuner box which is stowed out of sight (e.g. In cupboard). The Snipe controller shown is used to select the satellite from which you wish to receive signals, it's not a free to air satellite tuner itself. Your tv source selection does not appear to list satellite tuner. Is there a cable which exits the Snipe controller and goes to another electrical box in the van (you should have a cable connecting it to the "dish", a power cable, and a cable going to the tuner)? What is the "Snipe handset" you refer to, my Snipe system had no remote control, hence why I'm wondering if you have a separate satellite receiver/tuner box, to which the "magic eye" is also connected?

Do you have a user guide for your Snipe 2? This for the same unit just rebadged, inside you will find a diagram which may help..

Exactly .. Must be a receiver box somewhere or needs to get one as that tv doesn't appear to have freesat built in.
