Hey there folks, I'm a total newbie to the MH world having just purchased my fist Hymer B544 1990. Shes an oldie but a beautie. Unfortunately the previous owners removed the drop down bed which I'm looking to reinstate but I cannot locate one anywhere. I would appreciate if anyone could point me in the direction as to where I can obtain a replacement? Happy for any help.
Many thanks :)

many many years! since I was a kid
you are chasing rocking horse poo to be honest. The only slight possibility is to find a written off hymer in a scrap yard, but even then they will want to sell the whole interior as a package

What did the previous owners do with the bed?

I'm Suprised it's even possible to get the Drop down bed out.
I thought the van was built around it !

I've known quite a few people remove them for payload gain. Which is probably why yours is missing. This means that there are quite a few gathering dust in barns and garages across Europe. You'll need to look hard and it will likely take a while but you will find one eventually. With my luck you'll find one ten minutes after you sell that Hymer :) Best of luck (y)

There's 2 Facebook groups that might be worth trying (if you haven't already). One is Classic Hymers (for pre 1998 vans) or Hymer Owners Group, which covers all ages. Both are closed groups so you have join (free) but with this brilliant site (thanks @Jim ) and these two FB groups you should find someone who can point you in the right direction.

Thanks to you all for your replies / suggestions. Hobby horse poo is probably right as I've searched high and low. I'm not giving up and will follow the suggestions provided, I've even googled translated to see if some of the German sites can help within it success The previous owner that removed it discarded it unfortunately. Thanks a million again for your replies.

I've obviously not tried it so don't know for sure but I'm sure I remember hearing or reading somewhere that the drop down bed in an A class will, in theory, fit out through the hab door if you wanted to remove it.

This is a very long shot, but this company, who are specialists in all things Hymer, do remove drop down beds from Hymers and replace them with cupboards when the owner wishes to do this.

Might be worth a call to see if they have one available.

Too true. I did check Hamilton Engineering as recommended and they have 3 beds, One is out of an S Class – so it’s probably even wider. The other two are B Classes of the 1998 – 2006 era. Anyone know if any of year would fit my 1990 544? ( without the use of an angle grinder).
