I tend to give adverts only a short scan and little time.
Advertisers use the old but very valid sales quote
‘sell the sizzle not the sausage’

We already know what a good place this is, people join for the benefits of membership, in other words what being a member will do for them, this is what gets the interest.
The photos are always the attention grabber, the quotes are great as they are about what is good.


You can always say, if in doubt, lookout for the badges and ask a funster.

Someone better with words than I am will have to work out how this should affect the wording, but we shouldn't lose sight of the fact that attracting new members isn't just a numbers game.

There are other forums on the net, whether aimed at motorhomers, caravaners or tent campers, that have more members. That doesn't make them better & in some cases may even contribute to them being worse.

What makes FUN special is the quality of it's membership. In general, members are intelligent, tolerant, fun-loving people who don't take life too seriously. They look to solve problems rather than create them. They put in as well as take out.

The long term success of FUN is dependent on attracting more of the same. The age profile of motorhomers dictates the need for a constant supply of new blood to replace those who have to stop, just to maintain numbers, never mind expand.

How you aim the ad at those sort of people, I don't know. It will certainly make Jim's life easier if that's who it attracts.

Fun is probably the only club that offers a friendly forum and rallying for all motorhomers, families, couples, singles, disabled. All members feel that they can rally and either socialise or keep to themselves and they wont be judged or made to feel unwelcome.

Sorry Jim, can't help with loads of text, but I do think you need to get over that:
1. This 'club' is different. No silly rules, no cliques.
2. This club is not a club, more a way of life.
3. This club is nationwide with members overseas.

Jim, I don't know about anyone else, but if I was reading the ad, I would be more interested in what the members had to say rather than a lot of text explaining about the site.

From what I have read on this thread, you have a wealth of quotes to pick from. I would add my own:

Since joining, we have received helpful information and answers to every question asked,
we have met some really lovely people, and are looking forward to meeting so many more,
and Mo's daily quiz has become an addiction!
