Back after a 3 year break.
Hi everybody, I've been really overwhelmed by the warmth of the replies and offers of help that I've received. Thank you ! I'll be parking my motorhome on the hospital car park on Friday , and living in it from Saturday . I don't know how long I'll be staying as that depends on how soon the N.H.S. can find a place in a specialist rehab centre for my partner . It could be weeks or months; and then I'll relocate to wherever it is. I'll try and live a normal life around visiting times and will have my collie dog for company and walks, but if your nearby or passing feel free to come and say hello, Patrick.

Glad to know that you are sorted Patrick. (y)

We are at the opposite end of the country, so wouldn't be able to call in to say hello, but I'm sure those more local will be in touch, to see if you have everything you need.

It's maybe not the ideal pitching spot, but we hope your stay is a peaceful, and uneventful one. (y)

Best regards,

Jock & Rita. :)

Back after a 3 year break.
Hi everybody , I've been camped out in the hospital car park for two and a half weeks now; and got into a routine based around visiting times of 2-4 , and 7-8. Weatherspoons for wifi , Asda for food. walks with Blue my dog,, and music in the van for my soul. I've also got my car with me so I can travel and do a dash home if anything needs attending to. My partner ; Jess , has amazing spirit and is a real 'fighter'. She's absolutely determined to get better, make a recovery and live our dreams . After her accident she was in a coma for two weeks, and when she did come. round had lost the use of her left side . She has made slow steady day on day progress ; has got all her mental faculties, and is now able to walk, climb a flight of hospital stairs , getting stronger by the day . It is still going to be a long hard road , and she may be in Furness Hospital for another month or so before she can come home and have care in the community, and then a specialist rehab unit when a bed becomes available. But we are planning our dreams ! Motorhoming around the U.K. in early summer, a trip to Ireland , Christmas with friends in the Shetlands . These dreams will come true !!! I have told Jess that I have posted on the site , and of the helpful and supportive replies, and for those she sends her most sincere thanks . Thought I should keep you updated, and you never know ; we may meet on some obscure campsite . Onward and upwards ! Patrick.

Glad to hear Jess is making such amazing progress, obviously a woman with bags of fight, and long may it continue. Best wishes to both of you, and Blue of course. May all your wishes come true for this year and beyond.

It does sound as though Jess has turned the corner and I'm sure having you so close must be a great help to her. I know it will have been a difficult couple of weeks for you too so it's nice to hear things are coming together. Do keep us informed of future progress via the forum and here's hoping that this year's plans work out for both of you.

As with others Patrick, thanks for the update. :)

Pleased to know that "overnighting arrangements" at the hospital are working out, and that your Jess is making progress. (y) At least she won't be worrying about you and Blue, ;) and be able to concentrate on getting better.

Has anyone living local been over for a brew and a chat?

All the best,

Jock & Rita. :)

Hi Everybody , Great news ; Jess was discharged from hospital on Tuesday and is now home with me in Todmorden. We are both returning to 'normal' life and enjoying being home . I am learning to be a nurse and doing as I'm told . Jess is working hard on her recovery and doing an amazing job . We hope to be motorhoming in the Spring and enjoying a life we thought was lost . Thanks for advice , help and good wishes . With best wishes to everyone , Patrick and Jess .

Hadn't seen this thread until it hit the front page today but while I'd have been no use to you where I am it's good to see you are both back home and things are improving. Good too to see so many Funsters posting advice and support and the authorities going out of their way to help. Bet of luck with the recovery and your travel plans.

I haven’t been in a position to offer any help, but I’m so pleased that everything seems to be resolving itself into a good outcome. Best wishes to Jess for a complete recovery.

Good club this, don’t you think?

Mike.

Oh, that's fantastic!
The worst is over, now it's all just working your way forward. I'm so happy for the three of you.
Aim to get yourselves off to an easy Caravan Club site for a night just as soon as you can, somewhere local so you can go home if you want to.
Thanks so much for taking the time to let us know, it's great to feel part of a happy ending. :D
