We have just picked up our new to us motorhome and successfully arrived home with it. A 1998/99 Hymer B644 from a private sale. So far so good.
We have spent many holidays camping and even with a caravan when we had children to think about, but mainly with motorbikes and more recently on an extended trip down to Sicily with an Acadiane (2CV van). it was that trip which made us start thinking about a motorhome when we saw the huge numbers of motorhomes and campervans heading for the warmer weather in southern Italy last year. While we were messing about putting up and dismantling our tent we were envious of the much more convenient life you can have when you can sleep, cook, relax and live completely inside your own vehicle. Advancing years mean a reluctance to sacrifice comfort and modern conveniences not to mention leaving a warm sleeping bag and trekking to the facilities in the middle of the night.
The main criteria we had when choosing a suitable MH was a fixed bed and room for a small motorbike and maybe a couple of cycles in the garage. We think we've found that with our new purchase so here's hoping it lives up to expectations.
Plans are for some long European trips once we've become familiar with our new mobile home.
