I'm a newbie
Hello all. I've just got my first camper van. I hope eventually to travel full time for a year or so. My first step is to do some travelling in UK to get used to the van, best places to stay etc.. Really looking forward to trying it all out.

Haha - love cream teas whichever way round. Can you recommend a good dog friendly not too busy site in Cornwall which is walking distance to a town?

Hi Jojo,
We have two Border Collies so it is essential that anywhere we stay is dog-friendly. We usually have a second vehicle with us so being only walking distance to shops is of lesser importance.
As members of the Caravan Club we usually stay on their sites and CL's. Although we are familiar with all the sites in Cornwall I wouldn't describe any of them as being a 'walking distance to a town'.
I'm sorry I can't be more helpful but if my knowledge of the County is useful to you don't hesitate to message me.
Stef.

Welcome from someone else in Devon! I wouldn't spend too long in the UK before popping over to France, not too expensive from Plymouth to Roscoff and even if you went for only a couple of weeks but stayed in aires you would probably recover much of the ferry cost, compared to a couple of weeks in UK campsites.

Treloan Farm, Portscatho. Short walk to shop and pubs and plenty of dog walking.

Welcome Jojo, I've replied to your message in "Conversations".
I know personal recommendations like DBK's are best, but failing that you can search various websites with filters for location, dog-friendliness, facilities required etc, eg
or Caravan Club, Camping & Caravanning Club etc.
I think this might be useful too
Maybe look for somewhere close to a mh specialist (repairer & accessories shop) for when you find you're missing something or don't-know-how-to???!!!
Happy travels!

Hi Jojo Welcome to Fun, good idea to get used to you van a little before heading over the water, but the Blue sky's and beautiful country side are worth it. :welc:
