February 2013.
I will be in Normandy until about the 11 June then plan to head to Portugal.
Looking at the route we should pass:
Rennes
Nantes
Bordeaux
San Sebastian, then via E80
Burgos
Valladolid
Salamanca
Ciudad Rodrigo and crossing into Portugal
Fundao

From your collective experience any recommendations for stop overs along the way?
Any diversions I should make?
Any places I should avoid?

Many thanks!

Worth a stop at Caceres camping, a tidy site with MH washing bay, decent food and bar and each hs pitch has its own toilet/shower room and 16a leccy.
Caceres is a lovely historical town to visit and the bus stop is just over the road.:thumb:

when we left Caceres we took the EX100 road to Badajoz then on to Lisbon.
The road between Caceres and Badajoz is well worth taking if not in a hurry, single carriageway and lovely countryside :thumb:

Hello, Just spent the winter in a place called "ARMACAO DE PERA" on the Algarve , which I think will be to hot for the average brit in June. Hence I have moved north via, SAGRES, again to hot then onto "VILA NOVA DE MILFONTES" 2 X camp sites in this town, I stayed at second, toilet block a bit old but ok. try the first sight near the market, only 100 yards between sites. Then moved on to a Gem of site, council run, at "ALCACER DO SAL", small site, so I would try and book for that time of year.tel. no. 256-612-303, only €8,00 per day all year, for me and my camper + electricity. Went to Lisbon after that, expensive but must visit city. now on another council camp site at "CASTELO BRANCO" all new toilet blocks etc, so good, off back into Spain next week, good luck with you travels.

You'd be welcome to call by for a cuppa etc. at ours, between Domfront & St. Hilaire-du-Harcouet. You could stop-over on the church square ...

The municipal site at Alcacer do Sal told me they do not do booking in advance.

Only 12 kms from the off site lakeside parking place at Pego Altar.
