I was about to comment that the sold as seen thing holds absolutely NO water what so ever but Peter beat me to it !
As a by the by, it was one of the better things that came out of Brussels !

I understand the no "sold as seen" rules. But doesn't that exclude consumables? I thought tyres, exhausts and clutches were excluded from this? I have no idea but I would have thought things that can wear out through natural usage wouldn't be covered?

Possibly correct in some ways, but a failure just after delivery would not be classified under fair wear and tear although some warranty companies would try and wriggle!

Check your insurance company if you have cover to include solicitors they will give you the right advice I did and it worked

I would contact a lawyer specialising in consumer rights, as you say you had only covered 50miles when you had a problem of which you informed the dealer. It may be that you have a claim as the vehicle was not fit for purpose it was bought/sold for.
