Half frozen Dometic? (1 Viewer)

Posted this on here as on me tod, level and curious. The fridge is on all the time (obviously), the van is level. But It keeps freezing up on left hand side. Defrosted several times. It is working, but surely not efficiently. any advise would be appreciated

Don't shout too loud everyone will want one, a Dometic fridge that works - rare beast.

Possible an air bubble/lock in the refrigerant, so the refrigerant is not fully circulating.

That's interesting, ours is doing the same thing, not quite as much as yours but there is ice on the fins top left. I have fitted a guard over the fins to keep jars and packets from actually touching them but it didn't help with the ice forming.

Over icing is generally due to a poor door seal.. adjust door, or if seal damaged or cracked, replace

To check sealing, use a credit card, hold where the door seals, close door and check if it's being held firmly.. do this all round the door

Thanks Jim, I will check the seal. The freezer door seal needs replacing as it had folded over on the hinge side. I have managed to straighten it out and tape it flat, which has helped. Will check the fridge seal too.

You may be able to bodge something with foam draught excluder - assuming you can buy it locally!
