would agree mine gets coverd,perhaps they are to long?

Mine are about 35mm off the ground when loaded, any closer and there is a risk of stones kicking up .
I think most of the dirt is carried in spray which comes from either side of rear wheel arches

I had an 1984 Champion RV ( 28ft ) When I lived in Florida. It had those hairy dangly things on it!.....In fact, now that I think of it, Most RV's have them fitted in the US.
