Just paid £243 for habitation service on my 12 month old A-Class. No faults found, no parts required.

Seemed to me to be quite a lot of money. What do you all think?

No idea what a hab check involves but £245 sounds like easy money to me. Was he wearing a mask.

Had my First Habitation service done on my 12 month old Swift Sundance on Monday. Paid £125 and he came to my house to do it. He is registered so all i had to do was email the paperwork to Swift,job sorted :thumb:

Mine is booked in at Catterick Caravans for all the outstanding warranty work to be done (see "Auto-Trail woes") on August the 8th and I have asked them to do the hab check as well. I'll let you know what the charge, 'cos I haven't asked. Trusting fool that I am oh:
It is the first one, so it is linked to the warranty.

So I think you paid over the odds but delaers do seem to get away with it..

12 MONTHS OLD I would have expected that in the warranty surely they are guaranteed for that long for what they cost

At £40 an hour that's 6 hours work, what could they possibly do on a year old van

£120 at Martins caravans in Wisbech. Wouldnt have bothered but I need it fir the three year warranty

was that a habitation check + a damp check

our local caravan dealer charges £179 for habitation check and £60 for a damp check.

I do my own on going checks but get them to check over the fire / cooker & fridge once a year for £50 don't think there is much else they can really check unless Im missing something ???

Oh dear, should have bought the van from me as for the first five years, all hab services are F R E E:thumb:
AutoTrail,, AutoCruise, Swift and Pilote Main Dealer. 5 years free habitation services on all vans supplied by us.

Very over the top price, don't go there next year, get someone to come to you for about £100 area all in, or get ASH to do it at one of the shows, also who is the dealer so others can save there money by not giving them there business as they are just typical rip off merchants, a good dealer would not charge this amount Regards Garry Flatpackchicken

Just paid £80 for 3rd year habitation service he also checked the alko chassis and fixed one of the gas rings which wouldn't light all this at our home.

I accept that some of you have to have a habitation check to comply with warranty requirements. That apart, the best person to spot a damp problem is you, the best person to spot a gas leak is you (it stinks). The best person to spot that your cupboard door is falling off is you. Don't waste your money, you know already what jobs need fixing.

Mine is going back to the factory for its annual habitation and damp check and it will cost much, much less than that. Going up that way anyway so not even much out of the way.

'Ash' is his member name on here so look him up on the members' list, and ring him ! He gets pretty booked up at rallies so you ought to contact him first really, although I'm sure he'd try and fit anyone in if he could, he's also there enjoying himself supposedly so it's only fair.
