Looking forward to our 2nd winter sun trip, tunnel booked for 12th, Bonterra Park booked for 3 weeks before heading west for about 3 months.

Then disaster strikes - all the symptoms of a ruptured hernia. I had an op 6 years ago and it feels like it's failed. Seeing doc today but can't see us being able to go away now.

Totally gutted, we've been counting the days and we really need some sunshine.

If you can't go , ring eurotunnel and they will move your booking at no cost.

That's a shame but you must put your health first. Hopefully you will get away at a later date.

All the best for a quick recovery.

Oh that's awful for you. What a disappointment. I hope it gets sorted quickly and with as little pain as possible, and you can get away soon.

Good luck.

Hope all goes well at the doctors, I did some self diagnosis last year, luckily got it miles wrong

I went in expecting be told I had something really serious, but the lump that had appeared turned out to be a cyst and 2 weeks of penicillin and a minor eruption at the end and all was fixed

I also hope you are wrong :)

Thanks @DavidG58 but doc thinks mesh used in previous hernia op may have failed (apparently it can have a 'shelf life' why use it then????) and also the lump may be a cyst. Now waiting for appointment for ultrasound to see what happens next.

Trip is definitely postponed, we're now trying to cheer ourselves up with deciding where we'd like to move to (currently in a flat but wanting more space especially for parking motorhome on our own drive). This means moving out of the area which is silly expensive.

On and off for many years.
So sorry to hear of your health problems.

Hernias are nasty things and not to be taken lightly.

Sorry to hear your trip postponed. Life has a habit of getting in the way of ones plans:cry:, we are in same boat.

Our DiL just had a hernia op and as she is only 40, I do hope that her mesh has a better "shelf life" than yours!

Friend has just developed a hernia, admittedly only small, been told that in this area they only repair them if they become life threatening!!!!
Thought NHS was into revention is better than cure, sorry ex nurse should now better.

Small hernia worse that large I thought due to difficulty reducing it yourself. And a small hernia is more likely to become strangulated.

Very bad luck as I know how you feel. We cancelled a trip last year and had to return half way through another last year due to my wife's health issues.

@Abacist I'm sure it happens to many people, in fact I've seen a couple of similar threads recently.

You give up work and think Wayhay I can do whatever I want but then you get ill or a parent gets ill, or a new grandchild arrives (y)
We'll get our trip and many more, just have to get over the immediate disappointment.

Bummer, on many fronts. But health comes first. Get it sorted, snuggle down and watch the goggle box, whilst looking at Rightmove and replanting your holiday all the time uttering the mantra....'this too, shall pass'. Good luck, fingers crossed!

Try to look at the postponement of the trip as an opportunity to plan more.

Stupid I know  but, in the words of the song.......

Always look on the bright side of life!:)

OR they will credit it for you. Did the same for us last year.
Good luck to you and yours
