The intensified campaign will run from the 7th through to the 14th of September.

    @hilldweller Thanks Brian.

My OP is an incorrect posting, as on reading again it appears to have been published in September 2015. However, in impoverished Spain the Guardia are on the lookout ALWAYS for opportunities for "revenue enhancement".The article is still worth a read together with the one below which was published in March this year and states that more than 379,000 vehicles were checked!!

They ought to clampdown on mobile phone use while driving. The use of them in spain while diving is horrendous. Even public service vehicle have been seen using them while driving.

I watched Trafico motorbike cop negotiate a roundabout whist talking on a flip phone tucked up the left side of his crash helmet.lol
When I am standing about/walking the dog I look at every passing vehicle. " no seat belt", " On phone", " both" .Probably 50% doing one or other ,or both.
Even my mates trafico neighbour came along one day in his car talking on phone, no belt , seats down & tailgate up full of rubbish going to the bin.

Spain full of oddities which in places seem to be the norm >>>>>>>

Young male/female scooter riders....... Crash helmet hanging from arm, while texting roaring thru town.
Those same scooter riders with feet dangling, wearing "flip-flops"!
Small child standing on footplate of scooter, between drivers legs, with two others on pillion!
    Dogs riding footplate also.
Car drivers removing seat belts when entering town limits.

The list goes on, but am reliably informed that such goings on are restricted to in town as Policia Local don't bother, whereas outside town the GC scoops them up wholesale..... And rightly so.

    Bemused,
    Bryan

Thanks. I am waiting for a simple small headset, with no external unit, which is really built in so I should be OK.

Why are the Spanish cops always so obnoxious ? Someone said to me "well they were trained by Franco".

You obviously go to Almeria & Andalucia too much as the ones around here are the epitome of politeness as opposed to the tat they come up with down there.
Even worse is the lot up Barcelona & they aren't Guardia but a Catalan policia Nacional but call themselves 'mossos de esquadra'. Now they do employ some misfits.

Maybe "obnoxious" was the wrong word. I've never had anything other than a smile from them as I rode my mega illegal ebike past them in Benidorm. It's the system as we know it on here, A-Frames, what you can wear driving, where you put your sat nav, ebikes, stealing people's homes. So many negatives.
