Hello all
I and my wife are newbie motorhome owners. We have bought a second hand Bailey 620 Approach from well known West Yorkshire dealer in Huddersfiels. The previous owner put in some lovely extras including a reversing camera, bike rack, satellite TV and Alpine sat nav. I suspect the previous owner may be a member here!

Anyway, we will both be retired in April and intend to travel around the UK and France (at least in the first instance). We are completely inexperienced and are having to learn very quickly. We ahve had three local trips and leaned a lot about the van and her idiosynchrises but we are still flumoxed by her heating, the satnave and also the reverse cam. We will search for answers on this excellet forum and hopeflly, will, in time, ourselves contribute.

Thanks kcy. We intend to enjoy both the MH and our retirement. After 40 years of work and never having enough time to enjoy the things we like, now is the time for us to indulge. Sounds selfish I know but what the heck!

As a newbie, I will undoubtedly accept the generous offers of help though I will try and search before asking questions that have probably been asked 100's of times!

Hi and :welcome4: to Fun. Is there a smiley sticker in the van, that will tell you if it was a Funsters van in another life?

Yes Nige loves it up here and he's from London! We are hopeful we might move back this year, if we ever sell our place in Scarborough :)

pappajohn, why do you call Scarborough the anti-motorhoming capital of Yorkshire?
Do they have an over restrictive overnight policy?

You could say that.......

You can park anywhere, if there are no other restrictions, but come 11pm you had better be gone until 7am.
All the seafront (foreshore and sandside), marine drive, esplanade, and ALL council car parks are included in the restrictions.
You can park overnight in some carparks (unless signed otherwise) but you cant sleep in ANY vehicle.

Many motorhomers wont visit the town for that reason alone....they want you by day, but not at night.

Well, that really is shortsighted by Scarborough. I'll give it a miss then. I wonder how many of their restrictions are legal. How are they going to prove that you were sleeping in the van?
I hope we're going to find a more permissive attitude in France!

We have been MHing for four years now and have never used the MH in Britian. It's far cheaper to stay at a premier inn or travel lodge that pay site costs.
We have found the continent bril in every way, they welcome and know the value of us tourists on wheels.
Having said that! Because the old dog, canine not OH, is not up to long term travel and the introduction of Britstops we are going to venture forth in the UK this summer.
