I fancy going going but my wife thinks it's just a constant parade of farm animals.
Help me convince her she's wrong ---- or is she right?

she's right......the GREAT yorkshire show is a farmers thing, probably why its mid week rather than a weekend.
There are other thing agricultural...tractors (vintage and new) sheepdog trials, stationary engines, trade and the usual craft stalls.

Only been once, a school trip, and boredom ruled the day.

But the yorkshire show is a motorhome show

In the horse world it's classed as one of the best agricultural shows in the country. Plenty of stands to see that arn't horsey or farming orientated

There's more to it than farming. Obviously its an agricultural show so there is farm animals, equipment and vehicles. But there is also loads of trade stalls and exhibits covering clothing, home improvements, home equipment and allsorts of everything. There are also craft and food halls. In fact food and drink products are well covered. There is also a show jumping ground with a covered stand. We've been a few times and really enjoy it, very tiring as its a huge site but you can get round in a day and avoid the tractors and diggers etc.
If you've never been to an agricultural show then the Great Yorkshire is one to try, its probably one of the biggest with a big variety of attractions. (Probably the majority of visitors are like us non-farmers).

  • It's not cheap. We were out on the bike once and decided to call in. It was mid afternoon but they still wanted £25 each. In true Yorkshire fashion we replied "how much" and left.

Nothing wrong with a parade of farm animals, GYS is probably the third best show in the country along with the Highland show 22-25th June, Great Yorks 11-13th July and Royal Welsh show 24-27th July. We farmers know how to live !
