We use the tea towel spread out on the hob method of draining. We also have Kim's Ikea tray, which is a must have in our van.

Disposable cups and plates, plastic knife and forks jobs a good one, plus the wife wouldnt have to do any washing up
She won't listen, but I thought it was a good idea

Absolutely agree with her. I hate eating off plastic.

But the wife would have no washing up to do and more time to clean up, everyone's a winner Chris (y)

We went for a collapsible drainer, also from Lakeland, which we put on a tray to collect the drips. A good size drainer which doesn't take up too much space when folded down. Time will tell how long it lasts.

As a solo traveller I do not create too much washing up, that and I'm a great believer in wash as you create not letting a bowlfull build up.

So I tend to wash up with a tea towel over my shoulder, wash a plate, dry the plate, put the plate away.

At home where I'm also space restricted and the apartment builders decided that a draining board wasn't required I settled for this setup;

Plate rack and tray from IKEA, it is important to empty the tray of drained water quickly to stop wood rot.

All wood, so it is light, plate rack folds flat and sits in the tray so space economical and easy to stop. Cheap :)
