Suddenly, as of yesterday, when I open Chrome up, it opens about 10 things at the same time..
Now I know one of them is the adblocker, another is the automatic skype 'call number' add on, but am damned if I can figure out what else is opening.. I close them one at a time in task manager and most seem to make no difference !!

Nothing is showing in process's but it slows everything down to an absolute crawl !!

Anyone else had this happen ?

Not had that issue John.. have you looked at what plugins you have ?

you can see them here and disable those that may be causing an issue

copy paste this into address bar:

    chrome://plugins/

    ScotJimland almost certainly right.

Try disabling all plugins as he suggests, then restart Chrome before retrying.

Or look at the tools menu and start a new window in Incognito mode which has the same effect.

Sorted it.. though I do not know why it happened or how !!

Skype autocall was multi-loading. In fact it was loading about 5 times but of course it only showed in the list once....

Removed it completely and reinstalled.. though not sure why I bothered as I never use it anyway !

Glad you've found it .. :thumb:

I use both Chrome and Firefox.. and I've found that most problems are caused by either extensions or plug-ins. The more extensions you have the more likely they are to crash or freeze, so I try to keep them to a minimum..

Just recently I had Firefox 'freezing' and couldn't get to the bottom of it, but eventually discovered that it was a recent Flash player update causing it... I went back to using Chrome.. can't be arsed resolving things that Mozilla know about..
