See Jim's post after this for a better way.

Google Earth doesn't provide any means of downloading your own maps as poi's, which if you have spent some considerable time making them can be very frustrating. However there is a way to do this to your maps, and often to others. As long as you can see "View in Google Earth" at the top of the map, it should be possible to generate your own Poi's from it.

Right click "View in google Earth" and select "Copy link address" now paste it in to your address bar. Now you need to modify it.

In the one below you will see output=nl&msid, you need to change that to output=kml&msid

//maps.google.co.uk/maps/ms?hl=en&ie=UTF8&msa=0&output=nl&msid=207590977793691629247.00045cec0659620d391cc

As so:
//maps.google.co.uk/maps/ms?hl=en&ie=UTF8&msa=0&output=kml&msid=207590977793691629247.00045cec0659620d391cc

Now press enter and a .kml file will be saved on your computor, any of the Poi programmes like poiedit will convert that to the satnav of your choice.
