No not that way
Reading about fumes from fridges etc. etc. I have filled the gap in around our fridge as a) it was draughty and winters coming and b) it could let dangerous fumes in.
Has anyone else filled that gap and not with a Cadburys Snack (showing my age with that one). There's two great big vents out back to let it breath.

I filled the gap round our fridge a few years ago, the chilly draught hit me right on the neck when at the sink or cooker. Worked a treat!

I've never particularly noticed a gap in ours but going to check that when I get home, thanks for the tip.

If there is a gap either around or at the top rear of the fridge, it has not been fitted correctly and if the motorhome is not too old, or has been purchased recently, I would want the manufacture / dealer to sort it out. If you read the Dometic manual it shows, in the installation section, that the fridge must be properly sealed. A sure sign of incorrect fitting is if one can feel draught around the front of the fridge.

The top picture in this thread looks as though someone has taken the fridge out at some point and not refitted it correctly as there appears to be slight damage to the top of the 'wooden' aperture.

We had a very draughty fridge on a new auto trail and when I challenged the dealer they sealed it with clear silicone and said it should not have any outside air coming through the sides bottom or top as the back should be independently vented through the top and bottom vents.

Ours was a bit draughty and we could smell / taste fumes from the fridge burner so I removed the external wall vents and forced pipe insulation along the top, bottom, and both sides. Definately a knuckle scraper of a job...all very tight around there.
Vents back on, and tested in breezy conditions a couple of weeks ago...all ok.

The vent covers don't seal the vents completely, you can still use your fridge on gas with them on. They make your fridge work better @ cooler outside temps so they say.

Our dealer had to reseal the back of our fridge when I thought there was a draught coming through. When it was done, we still had the draught, it was coming from around the microwave oven. There are two round vents outside allowing cold air to be blown in. I sealed the gap around the microwave with strips of black foam, I don't think it was ever the fridge seals that were causing any draught, I could never smell any fumes.

Best guess would be its had a Replacement Fridge?. Not been properly finished off?

My first R-V had obviously had a replacement, and when I got it there was a quite a big gap all round I used some Plastic trim from the DIY store and bonded it in with Sealant. Looked the business when finished off.

If installed properly the sealing is at the back of the fridge so no need to seal the gap around the front.

Exactly! Too many motorhome manufacturers cut corners on the production line and don't seal fridges properly.
