What can / does block a regulator such that it wont pass gas (propane) and cun it be unblocked.

No it cant be unblocked
Its cause is often debated
generaly excepted the cause is natural chemicals leeching from the rubber pipes
you can go someways to prevent it by making sure your regulator is mounted higher than the bottles

hi, take it you have a fixed bulkhead reg.
1, it could be mounted too low ,needs to be above the bottle.
2, they say its part of the hose leaching out.usually a black oilly muck.
3.some change the hose and wash the reg in petrol to clean it
4.buy a new hose and reg and try the bove keep this new reg just as a spare.
5, google BES, they do very good pigtail hoses with fixed ends and can do a very good price on the reg.

Thanks both the reg is above bottles wall mountaed and has been replaced
