Are you requested to switch off your gas when going through the tunnel ?

Used it many times but always in the Landy so this summer will be the first time in the MH

Yes. They stop you just after passport control and ask you to show them it is switched off.

I think this came up recently and the answer was "yes" turn it off! Ours has one of the devices that tells you it's designed to travel with it on and it has a safety "cut-out" mechanism if there is a change in the pressure. (Truma Secu Motion Gas Regulator)

However, there was another discussion about travelling on ferries and they should be turned off for the journey, I think the ferry company staff will tell travellers to do so.

We will turn ours off if we ever get on the ferry for France later on........:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Just to clarify, "off" means the tap inside the habitation area (near cooker usually) or actually on the bottle itself ?

Ours also is designed to run with gas on with a security device.

At the bottle or tank. Secumotion makes no difference to them (doubt if they know what is is anyway).

We switch ours off at the valve on the bottle within the cubby hole where it sits:thumb:

Dont suppose it matters what system is fitted or how it's designed to be used, if the T&Cs of tunnel travel say "Off", then off it is.
Part of the Conditions of Carriage, probably.
I would have thought the easiest way to both switch the gas off and also demonstrate it is so is by turning off or disconnecting at the cylinder?

Prefer the ferry...cant get a full English in the tunnel.
Each to his own, eh?

Must admit we do enjoy a BBQ on the tunnel:whistle:

OK we BBQ the evening before we leave then enjoy on the train the next day, do get some odd looks though..

Full English is very appealing though

Brilliant breakfast at the Folkestone tunnel terminal though and cheaper than the ferries

In the actual tunnel terminal building by the car park. Mind you it's been a while since I've been.

OK got it, wasn't the best value last time we used it and no better than the motorway service stations, but again that was probably 2yrs back.
