Gas Conversion South East Spain (1 Viewer)

We are two months into a year trip around Europe, currently in the Algarve. The plan is to head East along the Southern Spanish coast, through to France and then on to don't know where. We have two 6 litre British gas bottles and have been advised that we need to have them converted so that we can have them refilled in any European country. I don't understand the technicalities whatsoever. We have found somewhere in Lisbon that will convert them over but didn't want to head backwards unless we have to. Does anyone know anywhere along the south coast of Spain that can do this?

Spanish Repsol 11 kg propane refill €10.31 2 weeks ago, probably easier to buy a Repsol bottle in Portugal if going through official channels, they have some very strict rules about selling gas bottles for motorhomes in Spain.

They can quite often be bought on flea markets etc or obtained privately on sites.

I don't think there's such a conversion. Refillable bottles would have been the best option (gaslow or gasit) but doubt you can get one where you are. Again, suggest a Repsol bottle and make sure its full before you get into France, when in France you can buy a French bottle and connection. Hope this helps.

Sorry can i just ask where I buy a Spanish adaptor? we are leaving portugal tomorrow so can pick up some 11kg repsol bottles before we do. we are then going to seville, Cadiz, Gibraltar, marbella and alicante (camping is marine?). and is it safe for us to fit the adaptor and gas bottle ourselves as we don't have a clue what we are doing?

To tide you over there is a garage just off themain coastal N125 road just west of Bolequime that will refill just about any type of gas bottle for you. If you're going to be in Spain for any length of time it'd be worth getting Spanish gas bottle and connector fitted...go to any Motorhome or caravan dealer who will do it for you using a"T" valve so you can switch between Brit bottles and Spanish. Gas in Spain is much cheaper than Portugal. ..12.5kgs bottle of butane here in Spain is approx 12 euros (once you've bought an empty bottle to exchange from any car boot sale for about 10 euros).
