BBQ on anything other than over charcoal is not a real BBQ even these gas under lava rock Things. It just don't taste the same.
Having said that I use gas and a skillet pan when away in the van for outdoor frying.

Sat and watched too many folk huffing and puffing at charcoal, waving newspapers at 'em with their heads hidden by plumes of brown/grey smoke and waiting 2 hours before they can eat a burger or a lamb chop and then half an hour scraping all the sticky black gunk off before trying to store it somewhere that doesn't devalue a £30 grand vehicle too much to mess around with a 'real' BBQ any more.
