The lifetime update is down to £59.99 (from £74.99 which is what I paid last year, and I thought I got a limited-time special offer then!).

    Web site.

I paid £74.99 as well. Don't suppose we can claim a rebate can we  Having said that, it is only a limited offer until 11th January 2012 and I still reckon I got a good deal compared to TomTom

Usually when I purchase technology it's the kiss of death....hardware is discontinued, software is no longer supported, etc. I'm amazed Garmin didn't stop supporting my nuvi 255w the second I purchased the 'lifetime' map updates

I use a 4 year old Garmin Zumo ,is it worth me paying £50 for a lifetime update?
Do the roads alter that much ,here and in France in 4 years?

Yes....... I have two Tom-toms.....one is 9 to10 months old and still getting free updates, the other is 2 years old ...and that is well out of date comparing it to the new one,....this is in France:Doh:...Round-abouts, junctions, link roads , new parts of motorways, and motorways
