    Hi all
Will my old Garmin 660 be legal if I turn off the speed camera option?
(On our holiday in France in June)
We will buy a more up to date model if we have to, but would like to use it this Year, are the cheap Sat Nav's caravan motorhome models on Ebay any good?

I understand that it is illegal to have speed camera alerts on your sat nav in France.

I don't think simply by turning them off does the job in the (imo) very unlikely event of you being checked...

The latest Tom Tom upgrades wipe the French speed camera information from their sat navs..

My understanding, but don't quote me :)Doh:), is that it is the speed camera detectors which are illegal to have anywhere in your vehicle, even if turned off. With satnavs, I thought that it was sufficient to disable the speed camera alerts, same as in Germany. That's all I've ever done.................but then I've not been stopped............yet

I have just been on the phone to Garmin to ask if I can disable the french camera alerts, and they say that as long as the safety camera box is not ticked on the unit it is legal to use the unit in France.
I hope this is the right information:BigGrin:
